Mortal Kombat 12: release date for MK12
The evening of Thursday 23 February 2023 was full of announcements, including PlayStation's State of Play conference in February, the first of the year. We got details on several VR games, the PS Plus content for March, but also a new trailer for Resident Evil 4.
Another, more discreet announcement may have escaped you. Warner Bros president and CEO David Zaslav revealed that the next installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise will launch in 2023, along with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, developed by Rocksteady Studios.
Mortal Kombat 12 is coming in 2023 (MK12)
We didn't get this information at State of Play, but in an exchange that you can listen to with the Twitter video below. Mortal Kombat 12 has been confirmed for a 2023 release. We don't have any more details, but this is already a good thing for fans of the license.
It's even more good news for fighting game fans as 2023 is going to be a martial arts year with the arrival of Street Fighter 6.

The latest game in the series, Mortal Kombat 11, launched in April 2019. Since then, the developer has added 12 more characters to the roster and released an expansion pack, Aftermath, in 2020. In 2021, the studio announced it was focusing on its next project after supporting Mortal Kombat 11 for over two years.
